A Sacred Destination

Sitting on the upper veranda as the light begins to fade, I watch my pet crow come after another almond on the railing as the melodic and unintelligible sounds of the work crew mix with the enormous silence ruled by Fire Mountain. The white egrets fly back to the river for the night, and we remark how beautiful they are as they suddenly dive and swoop towards us in a grand display of beauty on the wing. Evening approaches Fire Mountain.-- Dahvee
